My Love

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Its been a while since I talked abuot my dearest son.
He is already two years old and 15 days, as we speak.
Oh, how time flies.

From slow walks, now he runs and jumps around.
From cute babbles, now he is able to speak and count.
He even knows how to ask and reject things if it doesn't interest him.
He knows how to mimic sounds from his parents hahaha.
And we can see his personalities that grow every single day.
I am a proud mother.

He is more like me, in most ways.
Which is quite hard for me hahahaa
u know, how can I fight with myself?
We both wanna win.
But I think its quite funny dealing with another me in a house.
Its a male version of me.
Quite a diva, I might say hahaha.

When I told my husband that he must be very tired dealing with two creatures that have the exact personalities, his answer amazed me.
He feels lucky as now he has another piece of me :p
hehehe..Love u so much.

Here are some photos of our son, if u wanna see more u can follow my instagram @nolyannakurnain

now he even knows alif ba ta yeayyy!!

do u see how bossy he can be? grrr

he is soo vain, this one he follows his dad's vanity ok haha

he is so grown up now

ahahaha dont drink and drive

with dad, eating nonstop :p

Write again, soon.
Assalamualaikum.

Baby Fair 2014

Salam.

Semalam pergi ke baby fair. Tujuan untuk ke sini kali ni cuma satu je. Nak beli mainan untuk si bujang. Kenapa? Sebab nak badan dia aktif so nak lah beli mainan yg boleh merangsang tubuh badan dan otak dia tu. And to develop his personality. Kalau ada sejenis je permainan, nanti takut aku dgn suamiku tak faham pulak dgn kerenah dia, kot2 dia ni suka apa sebenarnya kan. Asik taram buku je ke muka dia hahahaha.

Lagi satu, sebab nak jauhkan dia dari Ipad dan Iphone. EEE.. xsuka lah bila dia addicted main gadget. Bila tak bagi mula lah menangis meraung mcm nak gila. Sorry bebeh, nangis lah sampai penat. Bukan kejam, kalau dilayan makin mengada lah nanti. Dua tahun pun belum, dah pandai guna taktik "meraung untuk dapatkan sesuatu." Siapa ajar? mama dgn papa xpernah ajar mcm tu. Nasib baik sekarang alhamdulillah dia dah tak batak dengan gadget. Dah faham la tu. Tangisanmu tiada guna. hahaha. utk gadget la maksud aku. Dekat sebulan jugak nak train dia supaya lupakan Ipad. Lepas ni kalau ada siapa2 dok suap anak aku Ipad memang nak kene la.

Eh. Membebel pulak. jom tengok gambar barang mainan yg dah dibeli hehehe. Total spending that day pun x banyak, considering the toys normal price yg memang mahal gila, but we managed to spend only around rm500. REAL BARGAIN if u asked me. But yelah, those are only toys, diapers, and some organic food for my son. First time xbeli baju anak wehhh. So nampaknya aku dah lebih fokus sekarang ni hahaha. Poyo nye statement.

pagi2 lagi kitorang dah sampai sini tau. angkut uncle sekali utk jadi driver and babysitter utk hari ni hehehe

bergambar dgn maskot mamypoko. nampak tak dia buat tangan macam gong xi fa cai tu.baby lain dia salam, tapi tang anak aku dia buat tangan gaya tu pulak.mesti dia ingat anak aku keturunan cina. hahaha.patutnya mintak angpaw haha ko tgk anak aku main sandar je kepala dia kat pipi mamypoko tu hahahahaha sukati je

oh resit utk senarai semak. menteri kewangan lah kunun.padahal xde efek pun, saje tgk resit lepas tu rasa hiba sorang2, kunun menyesal kenapa beli macam2 ni..haihh..bila dah seminit menyesal, lepas tu buang je hahaha. crazy woman lol

ni dah nampak dah, anak aku terus terkam mainan ini bila nampak. terus potong2 makanan dan letak periuk atas dapur bagai. kitorang laki bini melopong. our son loves to cook? but seriously, our son KNOWS HOW TO COOK??? anak aku dahlah boy kan, lepas tu dhlah botak kan,tiba2 jadi chef pulak. so mcm femes kejap anak I sebab parents yg lalu lalang semua dok tgkp gmbr dia, impressed gila kut. hahaha yg aku ni mcm dah gila, eh sapa ajar ko masak? aku pun macam xpernah masak selama ini hahaha so how??

beli ini jugak.set domino dgn piping.4 beg besar and it only cost me rm80. selalu beg plastic kecik cenonet tu pun dah rm40.sgt colorful.

hehehe the toolbox set is only rm45. and the basketball set is only rm120. seriously cheap. Zarif memang suka baling bola ke muka mak bapak dia, so kali ni biar lah dia baling bola ke tempat yg betul sebelum muka kitorang cacat ke hape kan.

semalam bangun pagi turun katil pasang tv channel food network asia, then dia pun start masak. rupanya dia belajar dari tgk tv je.nasib baik lah aku hari2 just pasang channel tu je. hari tu ada sekali laki aku tgk bellator MMA dgn anak aku, dua hari kitorang kene belasah dgn anak aku. lepas tu taubat x tgk dh,sakit woo.anak aku ni kuat tulang dia.huhu. so, nak anak jadi apa, memang boleh shape dari sekarang. ini buktinya.jgn lah bagi anak tgk superheroes, nnt bila besar nak jadi spiderman ke apa, bukan salah dia ok. Zarif kalau jadi chef pun ok gak ni.bertambah malas la mak kau nak masakkk kahkahkah

checking out tools. dia minat jugak toolset ni.paling suka hammer dgn gerudi tu. tapi pisau potong buah tu dia still kepit kat ketiak, hahaha true chef.

yay zarif suka toys ni hihihi

ok tu jelah timbunan toys untuk kali ini.x beli banyak sgt pun. toys yg sedia ada tu pun xtau dah nak sumbat mana. probably this is the last baby fair that I attend. Lepas ni dah xde dah kot.dh cukup dah semua. Alhamdulillah. Lepas ni memang buku je lahh hahahaha

Salam.

Veggies are GOOD!!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

hehe.
I love eating all sorts of vegetables.
Since I was small.
Until forevah hehe.

I married a guy who hates veggies.
All types of veggies.
Grr.
No wonder he is fat.
Ahahaha just kidding :p

Well, now since I have been eating veggies non-stop and double the amount of greens when I was pregnant, Alhamdulillah my baby boy is not allergic to anything.
And me myself has no allergic whatsoevah (God bless us)

I have trained my baby boy to eat veggies and fruits regularly on daily basis since he was 6 months old.
And it paid off.
He loves vegetables as much as I do.
Carrots, broccolis, cabbages, cauliflowers, and he would eat anything that is green on the plate:)
Ok, I love veggies, but I don't really know all of their names and heritage lol
So don't expect me to list all of them here hehe

eating his fave : broccoli :)

he ate half the plate of the caesar salad on his own :)

Last week we brought him to the doctor for checkups and even the doctor was so amazed at how good my son's teeth are muahahaha
That is the result of eating healthy food.
No sugar, no salt, definitely no sweets.
Organic food, fruits, veggies, brown rice, milk and water.
Sometimes I gave him orange juice (for vitamin C)
That's it.That's all.

nampak tak gigi dia yg tersusun rapi tu?depan ada 8,geraham tgh tumbuh hehe

I know some of the mothers are skeptical for giving their babies veggies
probably because of the toxic and poisonous things in our nowadays food
pesticides on our veggies
Hey, that's why I use Biozone Food Purifier
Its safe and helps me a lot
in serving healthy purified food to my family

careful with our greens, make sure its safe to be eaten, always use Biozone :)

once the veggie is purified, they even look greener and yes, they taste better:)

And please, if you say its too early to give veggies to the baby
you are wrong
The earlier the better
If you are feeding your baby with unhealthy snacks,
its going to be extremely hard for u to break their habit and start feeding them with veggies later
probably all u get is bitter rejection
and probably obese is on their way

This is sad :(

please help our child to become healthy, nurture them to eat the right way.

So please, please start eating healthy food now
I just ate salad yesterday
And I need it now
Later guys.tootles.

avocado and strawberry salad.yum!!!!

Why should we enroll our children in music education?

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Yesterday I came across a very interesting article in Genius Baby magazine (if I'm not mistaken, that's the name of the mag) talking about the benefits of enrolling your child in music education. My husband and I are actually intend to send our child to music class and learn violin. I want my child to learn music because I personally think music can help him a lot in his later life. e.g in memorizing Quran, in Math, even in language. I believe that music can help us nurturing those skills in him; because I don't think sending to my child to the school alone can help him to expand those needed skills. Not that I don't believe the teachers, but because I know the teachers won't be able to entertain every students (teachers have their own life too,ok? So don't put all the responsibility on their shoulders alone, parents have shoulders too hehe :))Yes, I am very competitive, and I can see my son is, too. Oh how I wish I know how to play any instrument (kompang pun xreti tauuu hahaha)

So without further ado, here are reasons why must we send our children to learn music :
  • IT IS MORE THAN JUST MUSIC
Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas. Making music involves more than the voice or fingers playing an instrument; a child learning about music has to tap into multiple skill sets, often simultaneously.
“Music learning supports all learning. Not that Mozart makes you smarter, but it’s a very integrating, stimulating pastime or activity,”
  • LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
“When you look at children ages two to nine, one of the breakthroughs in that area is music’s benefit for language development, which is so important at that stage,"
While children come into the world ready to decode sounds and words, music education helps enhance those natural abilities. According to the Children’s Music Workshop, the effect of music education on language development can be seen in the brain. This relationship between music and language development is also socially advantageous to young children.

“The development of language over time tends to enhance parts of the brain that help process music,” says Dr. Kyle Pruett, clinical professor of child psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and a practicing musician.

“Language competence is at the root of social competence. Musical experience strengthens the capacity to be verbally competent.”
  • INCREASED IQ
A study by E. Glenn Schellenberg at the University of Toronto at Mississauga, as published in a 2004 issue of Psychological Science, found a small increase in the IQs of six-year-olds who were given weekly voice and piano lessons. Schellenberg provided nine months of piano and voice lessons to a dozen six-year-olds, drama lessons (to see if exposure to arts in general versus just music had an effect) to a second group of six-year-olds, and no lessons to a third group. The children’s IQs were tested before entering the first grade, then again before entering the second grade.
Surprisingly, the children who were given music lessons over the school year tested on average three IQ points higher than the other groups. The drama group didn’t have the same increase in IQ, but did experience increased social behavior benefits not seen in the music-only group.
  • THE BRAIN WORKS HARDER
Research indicates the brain of a musician, even a young one, works differently than that of a nonmusician. “There’s some good neuroscience research that children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than people not in music training. When you’re a musician and you’re playing an instrument, you have to be using more of your brain,”
In fact, a study led by Ellen Winner, professor of psychology at Boston College, and Gottfried Schlaug, professor of neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, found changes in the brain images of children who underwent 15 months of weekly music instruction and practice. The students in the study who received music instruction had improved sound discrimination and fine motor tasks, and brain imaging showed changes to the networks in the brain associated with those abilities, according to the Dana Foundation, a private philanthropic organization that supports brain research.
  • SPATIAL-TEMPORAL SKILL
Research has also found a causal link between music and spatial intelligence, which means that understanding music can help children visualize various elements that should go together, like they would do when solving a math problem.
“We have some pretty good data that music instruction does reliably improve spatial-temporal skills in children over time,” explains Pruett, who helped found the Performing Arts Medicine Association. These skills come into play in solving multistep problems one would encounter in architecture, engineering, math, art, gaming, and especially working with computers.
My love. future violinist :)

There are tons of other benefits, I hope you can find it yourself hehe So, all in all, music can improve your child's abilities in learning and other non-music tasks, but it's important to understand that we must integrate other lessons too. Learning music alone doesn't make you a genius, but it will help you with certain skills, being disciplined, being part of something that you can be proud of, and most importantly, music makes your child happy :) When your child is happy, he or she will have the tendency to be creative and do great things in life, In Sha Allah :)

Geng surau

Salam.

Semalam suami bawak Zarif solat maghrib di surau dekat area rumah kitorang. hehe. Hubby cakap time solat Zarif peluk je tiang tengok je semua orang solat. pastu sengih2. Nanti dah besar sikit, boleh dah join jemaah sekali kat surau. Jadi geng surau lah ko ye Zarif hehe. Biar yg xrapat sgt, so biar tegas sikit kat Zarif tu nanti. Kalau bole, lagi harimau dari aku muehehehe. Baru lah berkesan. Nanti 2014 aku akan buat iklan mencari guru mengaji hehehe, kalau boleh siap dgn mencari maid, driver, guru tadika, e ehh hahaha gila dah aku ni. Lari topik.

I hate mosquitos!!

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

This month only, my child has been bitten by damn mosquitos several time and at several parts of his body. The result? Itchy skin and red, swollen bite marks. eee. My poor baby. So I found this online article about how to make your own mosquito repellent and what to do if your child still get that mosquito bite. (as most of the repellent spray and cream I found in the pharmacies are not safe for children under 2 years old)

This is how you make your own mosquito repellent:
Combine in a 16oz bottle:
❖ 15 drops of lavender oil
❖ 10 drops of lemon eucalyptus oil
❖ 4 Tbsp of vanilla extract
❖ 1/4 cup of lemon juice
Fill with water and shake

If your child still got the mosquito bite, you can do these:

Always use natural remedies as it is definitely safer for our kids:)
Hope this helps all the mothers out there~

My baby walks!!YAY!!

Assalamualaikum.

Owh, what a day! Today Zarif's babysitter is sick and I have to come to work this week to prepare bunch of exam questions for this semester. Yea, none of that happened today as I was soooo busy with my son.

So yeah, of course I came in LATE, (my baby woke up at 745am) punched my card in at 8.30 in the morning! and then went straight to my room (luckily lecturers have our own personal room, it makes things easier if we have emergency like this, fuh) and started making breakfast for my son. He loves to eat, so he finished up the whole plate (Attaboy ) Well, then, he wanted to play. And so we played. Until I got super hungry I pretended to sleep on the mattress (yes,I brought it since I got pregnant last year lol and refused to move it :p ) 2 minutes after that, I heard my son started snoring while hugging my tudung hehe. Yes! my trick worked out well this time! I looked at the time and it's already 10 o'clock. I got class at 10 o'clock. So I rushed to the cafe downstairs and bought some food and ate them in my room.

CAN'T go to any of my class today because of the baby. And I have FULL DAY OF CLASSES today. 10am straight to 5pm. So I asked the students to come to my room group by group to discuss about their group presentations. I have to be honest, it's quite ANNOYING. cause I can't move anywhere and the students were a bit noisy. My room is never noisy. never. ever. I hate noise :( well, anywhere else,it won't be a problem, just not in my room. Today is noisy day starting from 10am-5pm. Sheesh.

Well, Zarif got up at 12 noon and he just stared at all my students that were busy coming in and out of my room. Wonder what he was thinking. We went out for late lunch around 2pm and bought chicken porridge for my son. An hour later, got back to the office and continued with the class, I mean, the group discussion. Zarif was asleep but then he was disturbed by the noise of my student. Grr.. so he couldn't sleep at all until 5pm. My poor baby.

He pooped twice, ate twice, slept once (supposedly twice) and drank milk 4 times today in my office. Not bad eh for a first timer/one year old to manage his own time in the office? hahaha.

But there's one BIG THING that happened today in the office. MY SON WALKED. i'M SOOOO HAPPY. I mean, really walks. Walking more than 20 steps in one walk. Yep, I counted. hehe. His bum is so cute when he walks hahaha. Owh I love that MOMENT.

WHAT A GOOD DAY!

Just got a text from the babysitter, she is feeling better and she can take care of my son tomorrow. Yay!

So tomorrow, I can really work on those exam questions. Gotta make them really hard to answer ngehehe. Just so they can feel how I felt today :p

one year old checkup

Assalamualaikum :)

My son is already one year old :) Actually it was a bit late to bring him for his one year old checkup, because we were still deciding on whether to give our son the MMR vaccine or not. After much consideration and thinking based on the facts and possible bad effects on vaccines, we decided not to.

So we went to this clinic, Klinik Dr Wan Kamariah dan Famili at Setiawangsa,KL. The doctor is really nice and she respects our decision not to vaccine our child. She did ask, however, but after she heard my answers she just nodded and smile. She said "you knew, so I don't need to explain any further" my baby weigh 9.5kg and is absolutely healthy. I told the doctor I gave my son Habbatussauda (black seed oil) and he hasn't fall sick since. She said that was good, and yes people, from now on, I decided to go all homeopathy for my son and my family.

All herbs, no drugs.

So first we went to the clinic, and Zarif fell asleep in the clinic, and then after the checkup we went to KL Festival City to have our lunch before heading back to our home:)

After drinking some milk, he sleeps with his monkey

hungry baby

playful baby

Milk, sleep, eat and games. those 4 things will make my baby extremely happy:p
